EXCEPTIONAL LONGEVITY & CANCER RESISTANCE RESEARCH 'Old Grey Muzzle Tour' Hits National TV Networks: "Could Rottweilers Be Cancer Cure Key?" |
|
| The research, supported by the Rottweiler
Health Foundation, has demonstrated a link between keeping ovaries longer and exceptional longevity. The results were published in Aging Cell, the world's top impact biology of aging scientific journal. Since its publication in December 2009, the research findings have commanded the attention of many veterinarians and dog owners. In addition to the AVMA Journal, the story has been featured in DVM Magazine, Veterinary Practice News, MSNBC.com, and NBC TV. Most recently, Dr. Waters research has gained the attention of "Good Morning America." (video to left) |

FAMILIAL
SUB-AORTIC STENOSIS RESEARCH
The RHF encourages your participation in this study. If you have a dog diagnosed by a board certified veterinary cardiologist (via doppler echocardiogram) as SAS affected or SAS clear, your dog's blood DNA is needed. See Familial Sub-Aortic Stenosis Sample Submission Form.

CANCER RESEARCH
New update from Dr. Jaime Modiano - stay tuned! Since cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the Rottweiler, the RHF continues to fund research in both osteosarcoma and lymphoma. Grant CHF-947A & B: Heritable and Sporadic Genetic Lesions in Canine Osteosarcoma, headed by Dr. Breen and Dr. Modiano, has the potential of pinpointing specific genes that are associated with breed-dependent risk, and to possibly predict how heritable factors influence bone cancer in Rottweilers, Golden Retrievers, and other breeds.
If your dog was recently diagnosed with cancer, have you considered helping cancer research by submitting a sample? Click here for instructions on sample submission to the Modiano Lab.
