I am still crying as I write this, only two days ago we had to have our beloved Rottweiler Holsten put to sleep.  He was only aged 7 years 10 months old.  As a puppy he would go for walks and always be a little clumsy falling over his own legs.  He was the most loving, funny adorable dog.  He was fantastic with my four children.  I am also a foster care giver, so he had to be tested and he passed that with flying colors, with a certificate to prove it.

We decided to buy a second Rottweiler only last year.  After only a short time, Webster was found to have hip dysplasia - but on medication and lots of care we think he will live a fairly normal life.

Holsten has always been so caring and very gentle with Webster and as a baby, if Webster was in his pen crying, Holsten would be first there to see what's wrong. Holsten's nature was fantastic and even people that did not really like dogs, really loved Holsten.

About 2 weeks ago, my hubby noticed a lump on Holsten's leg so we naturally thought oh dear, he has sprained his leg again.  We stopped his walks for a couple of days until he healed, but only this time it didn't.  I managed to get a appointment at the vet in the morning.  We took him there and they said they would x-ray him but needed to sedate him, so I kissed him bye and awaited for the phone call.  A 3:00 p.m. the vet called to tell me our baby has cancer.

My world fell apart from that moment.  At 5:30 p.m. we were back at the vets - me, my friend, and my very upset hubby - all in the room to say good bye to the love of our life.  Holsten was so pleased to see us - he thought we were taking him home.  It was so awful - me and my hubby knelt on the floor with him cuddling kissing him and telling him just how much we love him, and kept saying it over and over again and his eyes never left mine until he finally fell asleep forever.

Holsten your always always be in our hearts. Scott, Ashley, Matthew and James.  Love you forever - until we meet again.  XOXOXO
